Martijn Payens is a SE Asian-based documentary filmmaker and photographer and holds a M.A. in Cinema Arts and Sciences from the Brussels Film Academy. He works to empower and connect people by creating character-driven stories. Stories that capture the world’s challenges and how people are confronting them.

He is comfortable in every facet of production, focusing on directing, cinematography, producing and editing. His work has led him to Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, and beyond. Over the last year he worked on a regular base for Doctors without Borders (Amsterdam), a Dutch Culture Fund and numerous other non-profit organisations.

He produced and directed one short and one feature length documentary both of which premiered at IDFA’s competitions and shown at 20+ international film festivals around the world.

Martijn is currently based in Bangkok and is available for projects across SE Asia.
